Beðið is the sixth work in the Saga Unn's textbook art series, where the artist creates different site-specific installations using “recycled” textbooks, dictionaries and other books. A bed of paper beaks, like a living thing, growing, changing shape as more paper “beaks” are created. Growing organically, taking over, adapting to- as well as changing the environment that surrounds it, the mass of paper spreads. Making art or making a mess, it’s not always easy telling these things apart. Meaning being created as well as being obscured, text rendered incomprehensible, Beðið (a flower bed; or waiting) being made in the process - like flowers or barnacles attached to a ship, a thing made up of many smaller things - a thing being made as it is un-made. An un-fixable thing always in the process of becoming - something else, something mysterious. Something new from something old.
