Saga Unn (b. 1992) is an artist’s based in Fjarðabyggð, Iceland. Saga’s works serve as meditations on the creative process both as it appears in art as well as in nature and the mysterious forces that lead people to creating - as well as destroying - things. Saga graduated from FB Breiðholt Collage in 2012 with an Icelandic Students Prof in Visual art before going on to complete a BfA in Fine Art from Lasalle Collage of the Art in 2016, and an additional BA from the University of Iceland in Japanese Language in 2021. Their work has been exhibited in various group and solo shows in Iceland, Japan, Singapore and China.

My works are meditations on the human/nature relationship, the mysteries and the contradictions created and revealed when I dig deeper into this relationship. Into what joins them. The impulse that would have them be separated. The creative process. In my art the creative process is natural. Involuntary and irrational. A compulsion, the (human)animal drive to create as well as destroy. More often than not, this all happens at once. Making art or making a mess, there isn’t always a clear distinction between these two. Creating or annihilating something. Something new or something old. My art is all about interrogating these contradictions. Make connections between natural processes and the supposedly separate, antagonistic world of human concepts, language, art and culture.
