Óþekkt tríó´ is a dance trio where dancers and makers, Bjartey Elín Hauksdóttir, Birna Karlsdóttir and Sóley Ólafsdóttir, dance inside and around the number three. The composition revolves around a triangle shape on the floor, and the audience is free to move around this space. The trio approached the collaboration from a wish to engage in ritualistic labour of movement, creating with breath, sound, and rhythmic clarity. The revolving movements are sharp and aggressively clear. Within the sharp structure there is circulation and a soft stirring that allows the form to breathe. The formalized repetitions come across as a never-ending cycle of ritualistic labour. The system is never let go, it is the driver, no matter the softness of the hearts of the trio, the more they feel, the more tired they get, the harder they hit the moves to carry each other through. There is an urgency towards staying in this mysterious cycle. This triangular star is shaking and the trio must do anything they can to keep its shape.
