Traces of Warmth is a site-specific installation placed on a window in a public area of Hamraborg. The work uses translucent matt vinyl, cut into loose shapes that resemble the casual gestures people make when wiping or drawing on fogged-up glass. These forms recall moments of pause, waiting, or looking out, and the traces we leave behind without thinking.
The piece is designed to sit quietly within the everyday setting. It interacts with changes in light and weather, becoming more or less visible depending on conditions. During the day it softens reflections or catches sunlight. At night it responds to artificial light from inside and out.
The installation draws attention to the way surfaces hold small imprints of use, care, or distraction. By echoing familiar but often overlooked behaviours, it asks viewers to notice their surroundings a little differently.
Traces of Warmth reflects on how people shape public space not only through movement and noise, but also through stillness and habit. The work aligns with the festival’s theme by treating rootedness as something that can be felt in fleeting, physical contact with place.
