In Blöndun/Fusione, Björg and Ingibjörg perform their own compositions along with improvisation. They augment their performance on flute and bass with the use of extended techniques and effect pedals to create swelling soundscapes. Their improvisation stems from different musical backgrounds: Björg’s improvisation employs many sounds and techniques from contemporary classical music while Ingibjörg mainly uses sounds from the jazz idiom. In this way, they blend and fuse together different genres and create their signature sound.
