Lyfvera
Ingiríður Halldórsdóttir (1996) is a chronically ill artist and community organiser.
Lyfvera( Drug'being) is a project exploring the sick world illnesses have prescribed her. Through sculptural works, pottery and poetry she opens a window into her existence. With humor and wordplay she dares the audience to see medication in a bigger contexts.
Since 2023 Ingiríður has been part of Hafnar.Haus, where she has a studio space. There she has taken part in organising a broad spectrum of art events. She is the current treasurer of hafnar.community.
With encouragement from fellow creators Ingiríður started to blend together her poetry and deep love of puns and wordplay with her sculptural works. Poetry, puns, pottery, paper work and playfulness. Peppered in with a pinch of pain.Throughout her illness journey Ingiríður has found metaphors a useful tool to explain things and pains that often can't be fully medically explained. Years of dealing with systems, health care, welfare and her own nervous system impact her work. Lyfvera uses medication packaging as medium in the sculptures.Ingiríður enjoys exploring everydayness, modeling and transforming it into newness.
Last April Ingiríður showed her work “Window pain management” („Það er gluggaverkur í dag“) in hafnarhauses window gallery. The showcase series was awarded a grant from city council.
