Óskar Örn Arnórsson is an architect and architectural historian. He is a recent graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP), where he successfully defended the dissertation “Architectures of the Marshall Plan in Europe, 1948–1952,” in spring of 2025. In the dissertation, Óskar Örn looks at how the US governed Western Europe through the built environment in the years after WWII, through an analysis of case studies in Germany, France, and Greece. Óskar’s topics of interest include architectures of global governance; architectures of development; and architecture and environment. He lectures regularly on Icelandic architecture in Icelandic radio (Víðsjá), serves as a contrubuting editor of Nordisk Revy for Arkitektur, and is the chief curator of Slökkvistöðin, an independent exhibition and event space for architecture and the spatial arts located in the former fire station of the fertilizer factory in Gufunes.
