Improv for Dance Enthusiasts

Improv for Dance Enthusiasts

Improv for Dance Enthusiasts is a dance collective based in Dansverkstæðið. Since their founding, they have been organising dance classes in improvisation, contact improvisation, and partnering, as well as dance jams accompanied by live musicians to slowly build an improv dance community in Reykjavík. In recent years, the collective has been working more project-based, researching the possibilities of improvised movement, safer space and collective learning. In their practice, they stand for transparency towards their participants and an open learning environment for both beginners and experienced dance enthusiasts. The collective was formed in 2020 and is run by five foreign artists living in Iceland: Janosch Bela Kratz, Linde Hanna Rongen, Magdalena Tworek, Meeri Susanna Mäkinen and Yelena Arakelow.
