Driven by notions of solastalgia and nostalgia, the work reflects on what we no longer see - the gradual, quiet disappearance of wildlife, folklore, and moments that shaped our childhoods. Born in Ireland, now based in Reykjavík, Sunniva Allanic explores a deep-seated longing for the wildlife of previous homes, translating that feeling of absence into tangible presence.
Rather than seeing animals as isolated beings, the work aims to challenge the hierarchical ways in which we separate one living being from another. These figures exist simply to be, offering glimpses into alternative ways of existing, while gently inviting us to reflect on our own relationship with the living world around us.
All exhibitions open on Friday, August 28 at 5pm and remain open during each location’s regular opening hours until September 4.
