The work is a large and unnecessarily complex installation. Its primary materials are objects whose sole purpose is to connect other objects together, often overlooked, but essential: tools, fasteners, clamps, cable ties and magnets. The hardware and fastening aisles of building supply stores hold endless possibilities. Systems, structures, and pipes that begin, become entangled, and come to an end. The objects are like strangers holding hands. Together they form a whole, a symbiosis, a whispering game, a network, a conveyor belt, a sentence: just as conjunctions enable us to construct unnecessarily long sentences in the hope of preventing misunderstanding. Sigurlinn seeks to reveal the beauty inherent in these objects, assigning them a new role, where utility and productivity recede. Allowing them to rest.
