For the Hamraborg Art Festival, My Best Wishes presents a retail display rack of dream products from the fictional Heavenly Dreams Company. Blending humor, longing, faith, grief, and imagination, the installation offers an assortment of miraculous items that promise extraordinary experiences and impossible solutions.
Products such as After Life Eye Glasses, Grief Relief Elixir, Wash Away Childhood Shame Shampoo, and My Dead Dad’s Visit Vials invite viewers to consider universal desires: to heal emotional wounds, reconnect with loved ones who have passed away, understand life's purpose, and glimpse what may exist beyond the physical world. Other offerings, including Converse With Fauna and Flora Syrup, Dance Party in Heaven Honey, and Be Safe Salve, suggest magical ways of transcending ordinary human limitations.
While these products make fantastical claims, they point toward deeply human hopes. They explore our need for comfort, belonging, meaning, forgiveness, strength, and connection. Through the familiar language of advertising and consumer culture, the work transforms spiritual questions and emotional yearnings into objects that appear purchasable, inviting both amusement and reflection.
At its heart, My Best Wishes asks what people truly wish for if anything were possible. The installation envisions a world where healing, understanding, and connection can be packaged and displayed on a shelf. In doing so, it encourages viewers to reflect on hope, faith, self-belief, and the mysterious bonds that connect us to one another, to nature, and perhaps to something beyond this life. Ultimately, the work celebrates the wonder of being alive, however brief our time here may be.
