Born and raised within the Minnan nostalgic soundscape and landscape of Quanzhou, Lindy uses a handmade NanYin xiao flute (crafted by her grandfather), guitar, and everyday objects traditionally gendered as feminine – including sewing machines, hair clips, combs, and crochet tools. In the performance, Lindy approaches embroidery as a compositional method rather than a craft technique. The practice of embroidery brings together voices, memories, gestures, and temporalities rooted in expansive understandings of womanhood and femininity.

Lindy Lin is an electroacoustic composer and audiovisual experimentalist based in Reykjavík. Drawing from Southern Minnan cultural heritage and nostalgic soundscapes, she creates immersive works using field recordings and everyday objects such as the xiao flute, guitar, sewing machine, clips, and combs. Her surreal compositions explore identity, imbalance, and equality.
