Drawing on codices and signs from ancient and recent civilizations, the work explores ways of expressing personal sentiments that have no direct translation in the languages we know. By selecting glyphs drawn from cryptic scripts, participants create their own statements or messages. The artists of the D.N.A. Collective interpret these compositions, after which participants are invited to share their intended meanings. Together, artists and participants explore the original meanings of the glyphs and consider whether certain ideas, symbols, or forms of expression connect across cultures and time.
