Silfrún Una Guðlaugsdóttir
Silfrún Una Guðlaugsdóttir graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from the Iceland University of the Arts in 2020. Her artistic practice can be described as a search for sincerity and vulnerability through imitation, gestures, and play, often taking the form of sound art, performance, and installation. She explores memory, humour, and relationality, using the human voice to investigate how we connect to our environments.
Collaboration is central to her practice, especially in the duo Tara and Silla, which she founded with Tara Njála Ingvarsdóttir in 2017. Together, they explore friendship and celebration, and have held three solo exhibitions – most recently at Kling & Bang in 2024, following exhibitions at Kleifar in 2023 and Reykjavík Sculpture Park in 2021.
Silfrún has held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions both as Tara and Silla and through her own work, in Iceland and abroad. Her most recent presentation was at the ACT Performance Festival in Zurich. In recent years, she has participated in residencies across the Nordic countries, and in 2025 she completed the Lunga Radio School in Seyðisfjörður.
She is currently pursuing a Master's degree at the Art Gender Nature Institute at the University of the Arts Basel.
