SÍM - The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists - was founded in 1982 and is Iceland’s largest professional association representing visual artists. SÍM provides its members with access to affordable studio spaces, exhibition venues, travel grants, and international opportunities. It also operates SÍM Residency, an international artist residence programme in Reykjavík that welcomes around 150 artists annually. SÍM encourages networking between Icelandic and international artists and plays an important role in supporting and developing Iceland’s contemporary visual arts community.
