Egill Sæborg Ásdísarson became a true cyborg following his Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery for Parkinson's disease. This advanced procedure involves precisely positioned electrodes implanted in specific brain regions, such as the subthalamic nucleus and globus pallidus, which are essential for regulating movement and managing motor symptoms. The electrodes deliver controlled electrical pulses to modulate abnormal brain activity. They are powered by a Bluetooth-enabled battery implanted in his chest, which acts as the control centre.
